We dedicated an entire section of the report to strengthening those relationships by showing the root of why you’re compatible with others and how you might conflict—along with fun things you can enjoy doing together.

Profound Thoughts?

Even though I’m the Inside8 founder, I struggled to write this blog post. In part, it’s because these things tend to be mawkish—and Inside8 is the most joyous thing I’ve ever done. There’s no need or room for sentimentality here.

And, in part, it’s because it feels presumptuous to speak on behalf of the talented people whose inspired work defined our success throughout this first year. A lot of founders give lip service to the importance of their teams, but it’s really true at Inside8. We’re a small group and everyone counts. Our gatherings are creative and fun, and never seem like work. And the work isn’t work. It’s what we want to do and it helps fulfill our individual and collective motivations. We actually live our message.

Outside the official team, we’ve had lots of support from our friends and families. Simple things like their encouragement make a big difference. And we always appreciate it when people show faith in our product, and in us, by taking the test and encouraging others to do so, too.

People have given in lots of ways. It’s humbling and gratifying.

We Listened

Our test-takers are a passionate group and they gave us plenty of feedback, which we always welcome. We learned that people want more ideas about how to apply the results, so we added a new “How to Interpret Your Test Results” section to the test report. We also expanded our free content to include more blog posts that help folks make better use of the test insights.

Over the course of this first year we started to define our blogging style. Seven people contribute to the Inside8 blog—and each one has a unique voice. We share insights on issues that matter to our community and we tell stories because it’s one of the most effective ways to help people understand how to access and use motivations in daily life. Plus the variety is fun and entertaining. We’ll be reaching out to our community more in the coming year to help you tell your stories.

We’d like more of our test-takers to use the Forum to comment and ask questions—mostly so we can learn about their priorities and so we all can engage with each other in meaningful ways. Anyone who has reached out to us knows that we respond.

A Big Tent

We’ve had a lot of test-takers, from all over the world. We’ve interacted with people from small towns and big cities across the United States, and with folks from Canada, the U.K., Australia, Ireland, Malaysia and Hungary.

Through social media, we’ve connected a large community, including 9,000 on Facebook, 3,300 on Twitter and more than 1,200 on Instagram. Not bad for one year.

When we started, the talented team who developed our website said we needed to publish at least two blog posts per week. For those of you who are counting, that would be 104 for the year. We came close: 91. Also not bad. Plus we’ve done 36 FB Live broadcasts—all of which have been informative and entertaining. You can see those on our YouTube channel.

Throughout the year, we received recognition in SUCCESS Magazine, The Washington Post and specialty publications that reach segments of our test-takers, such as Sales & Marketing Management Magazine.

That’s a lot of impact for a small team and it speaks to how Inside8 motivates each of us individually and as a group.

Of course, the impact we ultimately want to have is on people’s lives. Knowing your motivations is the key to creativity, commitment and personal fulfillment. The Inside8 test identifies your motivations and how they influence your behavior and relationships in life.
